THE ROMAN BATHS
The Hammam originates from Greco-Roman culture, taking the name of thermae .
It is a timeless place where the scent of incense and the slow flow of water evoke the quiet of a mother’s womb. An invitation to listen to yourself.
As per ancient tradition, the Roman Baths include a succession of different rooms, from the hottest to the coldest, places where caring and maternal hands will cuddle you lovingly and bring back childhood sensations of well-being.
In the first room, apodyterium or changing room of the Baths, you strip yourself of everything that might recall the world outside, you lock every object and every thought in a locker and, covered with a single white sheet, you prepare for a journey towards yourself, for a moment of deep listening to your body, of abandonment and meditation.

Entering the tepidarium (34°) of the Baths, you are immersed in an almost surreal atmosphere where silhouettes of evanescent bodies dissolve between vapors and plays of light, among the sounds of flowing water, where time cannot enter to mark its moments. After a hot shower, you lie down on heated marble benches and let yourself be pampered by expert hands with hot water ablutions that loosen all tension, open the pores and wash away all impurities. Bathing in the Baths induces you to abandon yourself, to doze off, and perhaps to take possession of your body by massaging yourself to add to the benefits of the water those of the black soap with olive oil that makes the skin soft and luminous.
You then enter the calidarium (45°- 100% humidity) where the actual “steam bath” takes place. Here the heat dilates the blood vessels and circulation obtains great benefits, has positive effects on mood, removes stress and tiredness, and improves the quality of sleep.

The warm-humid climate cures with a sort of natural aerosol problems of the nose, throat and bronchi and, acting on rheumatic and arthritic pains, reduces the discomfort; the abundant sweating, moreover, allows to expel toxins and waste and to dispose of excess liquids.
Given the high temperatures, in this environment it is advisable to take a moderate break, alternating it with short breaks and glasses of fresh water.
At the end a scrub will serve to free the skin from impurities, the whole body will therefore be rubbed vigorously with the traditional glove and washed.

The last phase of this wellness journey includes immersion in the frigidarium (26°), a tub of fresh water to tighten pores, tone muscles and give a boost of energy to the entire body.
For those who wish, the journey can continue in the hands of our operators who will take care of you, choosing from a wide variety of massages.
Before returning to reality, there is a stop in the relaxation room, a sort of “decompression chamber” that will help those who have taken refuge in the Spa to return, slowly, between a tea and a lazy read, to the rhythms and sounds of the “outside world”.
